star trek!
Jun. 3rd, 2009 08:47 pmI saw Star Trek, finally, and am now filled with an unreasonable amount of love. OMG, Spock and Uhura! Bones’ weird fixation on Kirk! Old Spock! Little curly-haired Chekov! Scotty inside the water tubes! It really couldn’t have been more awesome. And despite being set in space it seemed so organic and real – without looking dirty and random like old Star Wars, or over the top shiny like new Star Wars. Filming the whole thing with light flares was genius and added to that sense of realism, apart from just making everything look gorgeous.
In conclusion, I LOVED IT and am completely willing to have its’ babies. Yes, I am. And to be able to wallow in the love I’m pretending there was no sexist bullshit in this film at all. (Painful childbirth in the 23rd century? Lalalala, what? A Vulcan calling another Vulcan’s mother a whore to humiliate them? Nope, didn't notice.)
Instead I am at peace with the fact that it could have been a lot worse. It really, really could, and it wasn’t. *happy fangirl sigh*
Also, I might be a little bit in love with this new and polished Spock.
