a disaster in slowmotion
Apr. 9th, 2011 03:56 pmI was just a kid when Chernobyl blew and my country and region ended up getting a good share of the radioactive fallout. What I mostly remember from that time is my mother's worry and how careful she became with our food and our being outside. I can't imagine how mothers in Japan are coping right now with the worry in a situation that's a thousand times worse than my mother's back then. And I wonder how much the authorities are hiding from them in order to keep everybody calm.
